The images, courtesy of the National Weather Service, show that we aren’t expecting much in terms of snow (<1″ for MoCo), but accumulating ice may be an issue for our area (almost 2/10ths of an inch for some of our county).
I still suspect that a winter weather advisory will be issued today, at least for the NW part of the county and possibly for all of it.
This will primarily be due to the timing of the storm, which should make its way into our area between 4am-7am.
Below you’ll see two early calls for totals, from WUSA9 and ABC7:
As it looks now our morning looks like it’ll be messy, with things getting worse the farther north/northwest you go.
All it takes is a few degrees either way to make this thing get a little messier or a little more wet, so I’ll continue to monitor throughout the day and provide you with an update (Pencil Prediction included) this evening.
Make sure to download the free MoCoSnow App (iOS only) for predictions with specific percentages and predictions for surrounding counties. I would love to have an app for android users, but am unable to do so at the moment.
You have three days left to order your limited edition MoCoSnow SNOW SZN shirts! Thanks for the support.
