The last 24 hours gave us a shot at snow, took it away overnight, and brought it back this morning and early afternoon.

We’re expecting rain on Tuesday with highs in the low 40s. The temperatures will drop and the rain will change to snow, but we have to keep an eye on when it’ll happen.

As it looks now, it might be in time for the evening commute…but most likely just after dark. If it looks like it will happen early enough, an early dismissal could be in play for Tuesday. Right now I don’t think that will happen.

The National Weather Service has half of MoCo at 1-2 inches and the other half at 2-3 inches. They also give almost all of MoCo a 50-60% chance at getting at least two inches.

If the cold comes in faster, we can see higher totals. If it takes a little bit longer, we may not see much snow at all. With that said, whatever falls after the cold settles in will stick around with cold temps lasting through Thursday.

Our area rarely makes a winter forecast easy, and this is no different. I’ll be back tomorrow with an update and with the first calls for snow totals.

Will the app pencil predictions be out tomorrow?
And why does the survey thing always say a 5 way tie between the pencils?

They’ll be out later today. The poll was temporarily disabled, but is in the process of being fixed.

Right now there is a 40% chance of some light freezing rain from 7-8 am on tuesday. If that does materialize could it cause a delay tomorrow? Or will it not be enough, since the temps will rise above freezing right after with precip switching to rain?

I heard something about a snow squall on Wednesday, could that effect school on Wednesday? Will it be included in your next post?
