Tuesday Prediction (March 4th, 2014)

The National Weather Service has released some official totals for the county.

Here they are:

Clarksburg: 8.3 inches
Darnestown: 7.1 inches
Germantown: 5.9-6.6 inches
Rockville: 5.9 inches
Damascus: 5.5 inches
Olney: 5.5 inches
Colesville: 5.5 inches
Gaithersburg: 4.7-5.5 inches
Montgomery Village: 4.6 inches
Wheaton: 4 inches

As you can see there’s a wide range of totals in the county. As MCPS Public Information Officer told MoCoSnow on twitter (@MCPSsnow), the county can’t be divided…so if it’s bad enough in one area, they’d have to delay or close schools for the whole county.

The good (for those who want another day off): There’s over 8 inches of snow in parts of the county, and at least 4 inches just about everywhere. Temperatures will also be very cold today and tonight into tomorrow.

The bad: I don’t think anyone wants us to miss anymore school and the snow has stopped pretty much everywhere in the county as of 2:30PM.

My Official Prediction (as of 2:30PM): 4 pencils (check out the ratings system tab to see what that means)

With Howard county announcing a two hour delay for tomorrow, does that lower your prediction from 4 pencils to 3 pencils?

I’m still sticking with 4. 75% chance we are off…definite delay.

“There is also another possible winter storm heading out way on Thursday.” Are there any news on the winter storm you mentioned for Thursday?

Just a suggestion. Could you put up the real time official status of MCPS in like a little widget in the corner of the website so that when it’s announced we can just look here, rather than having to check back and forth between this website and the MCPS page.

could you post the the days that mcps has been closed or delayed.
    The ones i remember are

    Mo9Dec closed-ice
    Tu10Dec closed-ice
    Fr3Jan closed
    Tu7Jan ARTIC COLD SCHOOL OPEN
    Fr10Jan 2hr delay
    We22Jan closed-snow ….last mcps snow day
    Th23Jan 2hr delay
    We29Jan 2hr delay
    We5Feb closed
    Th13Feb closed-snow
    Fr14Feb closed
    Tu18Feb 2hr delay
    Mo3Mar closed-snow
    Tu4Mar14 closed-snow

Remember the day in early January-tuesday 7 /january- it was polar vortex cold. I wonder if now everyone is grateful we did have school that day as it saved a day for snow.

MCPS’s Public Info Officer Dana Tofig tweeted that said even though mcps will ask for a waiver expect school to be closed later than 12june, perhps on 17june. The snow days allotted(built in to the calender) were used in Dec & Jan. Feb’s snow days and March’s are over the allotment/limit.

Hey would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with? I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a difficult time selecting between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique. P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!

This is WordPress. Had a much simpler site for a while through Weebly, but WordPress has allowed me to have everything I wanted for the site.
